Truffaut

 By: Paul Grady

I want to be a spade I want to be a shovel
Don’t want to be afraid to make a little trouble
So throw out the script and improvise a tango
Everybody’s tight lipped; everyone has an angle

And hey what do you know
There goes Monsieur Truffaut
In day for night and black and white
He makes the picture show

She’s so avant-garde; she is so slender
It says on her card she ain’t no pretender
With orders in hand we travel under cover
Through the blood and the Lamb that tie us to each other

And when we get to France
I will relay the plans
And here’s a twist: I will resist
beyond my circumstance

And hey what do you know
There goes Monsieur Truffaut
In day for night and black and white
He makes the picture show

And there’s one thing I know
Directors come and go
But no one’s quite exactly like
Our friend Monsieur Truffaut
