Discography
Paul Grady's musical storytelling is evocative and tangible. In seconds his songs put you on an empty California highway, a chugging ferry boat in Quebec, passing derelict factory buildings in the heartland. And the plaintive tunes and lyrics to stir up - in that way that only poetry can - the emotions that we have all felt: regret of a lost love, the frustration of being overlooked, the camaraderie of travel. A wonderful collection of songs from a journeyman songsmith.
“Careless Boy” is a brilliant piece of work. From the same song writing tradition that includes Jesse Winchester, Tim Hardin, and Steve Forbert, also akin to contemporary writers like Richard Shindell, Pierce Pettis and Darden Smith.
Soulful, with Beatle-esque chord progressions. Traces of the southern California singer-songwriter era are there in the mix of styles.
Paul has a gift for catchy lyrics and melodies that stay in your ears for days. These songs take me to places familiar and comforting.
Older listeners will hear echoes of Willie Nelson in both Paul’s writing and delivery.
